A commerce graduate of the University of Otago, with further study in commercial and property law, selected to attend a NZ Primary Sector programme at Stanford, and has recently completed the Rural Leaders - Value Chain Innovation Program at Lincoln. Jason brings personal experience with owning commercial and residential property portfolios. Locally, he chairs the Hawke’s Bay A&P Investment Trust and is Vice President of Hawke’s Bay Racing - roles reflecting his comfort governing significant assets.

Horses have been a constant thread in Jason’s life - his equine background runs deep, spanning sport horses, racing, breeding, and young-horse training. Hands-on by nature, he runs his own forge and shoes his own horses, rasp and hammer passed down the generations. He remains an active member of the Dannevirke and Hawke’s Bay Hunts.
